Probably Not That Frequently Asked Questions
What is this place? IndieInk is a non-profit independent literary and art collective and community of writers and artists who may not have been seen otherwise, but whose work is filled with such passion and spirit it demands to be seen. We are everywhere. We are a community.
I have a question not covered in the guidelines. Who do I contact?
If you have a question, chances are that someone else is wondering the same thing. There are no stupid questions, so please don’t hesitate to contact me at stacy | indieink | org.
What’s “indie” about all of this?
II is for writers and artists who don’t just write about one thing; they are or want to be independent of categorization. They don’t just write about parenting or food, they don’t just write poetry, a photographer can also write, etc. Too often we’re lumped into a group in which we may not totally belong. That’s all II is. It’s independent of all of that. Plus, I needed a name.
Where is the comment feature?
If you would like to discuss the piece, writing or art in general, make suggestions, get ideas, etc., please follow us on Twitter and Facebook and/or contact the artist/author directly. The author/artist should hear from you where they live on the Internets.
I would like to contact an author/artist featured on II, but he or she posted anonymously. Can I please have their contact information?
NO. Under no circumstance will personal information be revealed when someone chooses to post anonymously. If an anonymous essay really speaks to you and you want the author to know your thoughts, you can e-mail them to me (Stacy) and I will see to it that the note gets to the author.
I would like to advertise on IndieInk.
Going forward, II will remain ad-free. If you have a business and would like to sponsor something (i.e., writing contest), contact me. It must, however, directly benefit the writers and readers of this site. IMPORTANT: No ads = no revenue = site can’t stay alive without donations. I have no problem begging. If you like the site, please donate through PayPal to stacy | jurgennation | com.
What are some of the things II looks for in submissions?
Your absolute best. You know how you punch a fist in the air when you hit submit or finish a piece of writing or piece of art and it just sort of takes your breath away, even if you don’t want to go around saying that because you don’t want to be thought of as arrogant? But it makes you excited and inspired and makes you feel invincible, like you were born to do this? THAT is what II is looking for.
NO MEMES OR FUNNY THINGS FROM AROUND THE WEB.
Who runs this thing?
That would be me, Anastacia Campbell. Hello. I also write here, on my personal blog, Jürgen Nation and am a photographer with a gallery website.
Hey! What’s the legal stuff I need to know?
COPYRIGHTS: Here’s where I get legal, because it’s my day job.
You will always retain the copyright to your own material, but in submitting you acknowledge and permit your work to be displayed on the site. Your work will never be used by II without your direct, written consent in any other manner outside of this website. With and/or in any and all submissions to II, IndieInk and/or its assigns, submitter hereby consents to and represents that the work submitted is his or her own and does not in any form or manner infringe on someone else’s copyright or break any copyright regulations and/or laws. You must submit your own work, and in submitting you release II from any and all copyright claims. II, IndieInk and/or its assigns are NOT responsible for any submitter’s copyright infringement. The work published on the site is copyright submitter and any claims of infringement must be directed to same.
